Summer ends and a new era filled with emotions and projects to achieve is coming up. 

Summer has that invigorating effect of the mind that allows us to begin a “new course” with new energy and eager to eat the world. No post-holiday crisis gets to mitigate this sensation and charged batteries reveal the enthusiasm undertaken in new projects.

And at arturo alvarez, this hope remains the same: to move, excite and thrill. To bring people to a better welfare state through our products…That is our challenge, gathering all our efforts to create unique, genuine and original objects that show different effects, special and surprising, in a word: they get you excited.

I recommend you this video in which, through the words of Patricia, you can capture the essence of all this intention that encompasses our slogan, “emotional light”, that like a lighthouse guides our company’s strategy.

It has been a year and it seems incredible. The truth is either Monica or me are very glad of the outcome of a blog that was born to become a channel of dialogue with our fans

We always had in mind that we did not want a business and boring blog. Our aim was always to tell you many and various things that in other case we would not be able to spread.

Furthermore… to allow you to learn more about the ins and outs of this company and of its visual performances but also to answer any possible doubts about uses of the products and to let you know about the most alternative events and discuss interesting projects too.

We are very happy and really impressed about the number of visits. Nevertheless, we would love to read more comments tha will help us to learn and improve!

I don’t know why, but this design is a continuous source of addiction, why?

GLUC: Only a few simple circles form a fancy and funny structure which captivates us, looking like a sculpture. Why can’t we stop looking at it?

It is so multi-purpose, it is able to turn into the core piece of any ambient: modern, childish, youthful… at home, in commercial premises… in modern and pop sites and NOW ALSO FOR ROCK FANS!!

Since the new HARD ROCK HOTEL CHICAGO was ready to choose this design to live its public zones up.

It was chosen by the famous American magazine “W” as tendency for Spring 2009 among other different designs such as the chair CONE from Verner Panton (Vitra) and the boots of Yves Saint Laurent.

The Catalan photograph Xavi Gordo also wanted to immortalize it as fetish object in its photo session devoted to illumination for the magazine HMagazine, a referent for discovering tendencies. This session, which counted with the most relevant illumination designs of the moment, was realized at the showroom of SBD, great professionals of lighting in Barcelona.

GLUC is as trendy as it was since the beginning… What is happening with us? Are we getting GLUC OBSESSIVE??!!

If we have a look at the summertime, the summer leaves us but with a good taste in our mouth. Near to our company there is a beautiful and magic place, close to the river Ulla, full of amazing life and with an exuberant vegetation. This is one of the places, as many others in Galicia, Spain and Europe, where St. Johns’s Eve (the Midsummer’s Eve) is being celebrated. A magic night of purification, linked to Celtic tradition of the harvests involved with the abundance.
Our designer Arturo Álvarez is a lover of the nature -of big influence in his work-, and created for this semi-wild outdoor environment luminaries made of wicker and broom, two very common plants in Galicia (of traditional use in the handicraft of woven baskets).

The luminaries melted in the vegetation and contributed, with lots of candles, to illuminate St. Johns’s Eve. The peak was the marvelous bonfire of St. John, purifying the negative energies. Here it is the video, I hope that you will enjoy it!

From here we would like to express our gratitude to “Gañete”, an altruist person and guardian of the edges of the river, a task where he dedicates all his time and soul.
