A joyful, carefree lamp Holes is made with Tyvek® a technological non woven material made with polyethylene fibers, light, waterproof, with high tear resistance and totally recyclable.

This pendant represents a new generation of lamps made with new and recyclable materials, which use energy saving light sources and that pretend to raise consciousness about the need to walk towards these concepts.

Holes is not only a design suitable for residential uses, most of all, it is for commercial purposes due to its characteristics.

The Stockholm Furniture & Northern Light Fair, is an incomparable showcase in Northern Europe, in which arturo alvarez exhibits for the first time.

Essential days for good design lovers, in which they will have the opportunity to know the latest proposals of leading European brands and also they will be able to enjoy the Stockholm Design Week and its interesting events all over the city.

arturo alvarez along with the Danish designer  Christina Liljenberg, distinguished by her fresh and warm style, presents NORR, a design that unites two natural materials, wood and wool, to give live to a floor lamp and  a pendant that allows different colour combinations.

Also we present as novelty an interesting composition with the CORAL Collection.

A group of 20 children between 6 and 9 years of age attended for 4 days an educational workshop at the Centro Galego de Arte Contemporáneo (Galician Contemporary Art Centre); a sensory approach to urban and historic architecture in Santiago de Compostela.

Led by the architect Ruth Varela they made a trip across the motivational concepts stone, water and light. The result: an endless number of proposals made by the children from two basic elements for their constructions, triangles of cloth and sticks.

From the idea by John Berger “The first inhabitant of space had to be light”. The lamp Holes, manufactured by arturo alvarez and designed by Bertjan Pot, which recreates a kite built from triangles, with holes through which the light escapes gave inspiration for the proposals of these young designers, who could learn the differences between “technique” light and “symbolic and emotional” light, including light of the moon and the sun, between solid light and diffuse light…

He firmly and strongly supports that we walk towards, even though it seems contrary, to altruism, empathy, team work, understanding emotions and knowing how to handle them in a constructive way and learning to understand others emotions also.

Ten years ago nobody knew at the companies about Emotional Intelligence, nowadays many companies are committed to develop its foundations among their employees, so they can be more happy, because they have understood that if they are, they will be more productive and everything works better.

A crisis – the same as when a year finishes-, is a great opportunity of life to reflect about old things, to think about new options, more creative, different  and innovative with a new perspective.

We greet the New Year with hope, open mind, wanting to learn of everybody and to be open to new things, thinking that in the world there are more, good and wonderful human beings that are the ones that in the upcoming years will keep on telling the great human history of life.

Even though it seems impossible Arturo Ávarez has united two things that at first sight seem impossible… or maybe not so much.

In haute couture everything is handcrafted, there are no machines but pamper and a huge experience behind.  In traditional basket weaving there are also no machines and it also require huge skills and high interest in making a quality and hard-wearing object.

MIUU unites the best of both worlds.  Starting from a metallic frame where the fabric is woven, makes a strong and beautiful shade in neutral colors, like white, black and grey, or vivid colors such as red, green and deep red.

The shades can be customized by combining two colors in order to meet the requirements of the decoration.

The metallic frames are white or black depending on the chosen shade color.

The MIUU floor lamp is an arch that has the characteristic of turning 180º easily without any effort.  This piece is very suitable for lighting tables or sofas. Suits both residential and commercial uses; e.g., common areas of hotels.

The pendant is available in two sizes which allow making different combinations with them or using them separately.

The wall and ceiling lamps show the weave with all it splendor, they have a slight undulation that emphasizes its voluptuousness and beauty, a very decorative piece for wall or ceiling.

A warm and embracing light, in the middle of the exhibition space lit the artwork with gentleness. arturo alvarez made a scenographic installation with pendants, starting from the Seaurchin model from the Coral collection. The ocean vibrating from the central space filled everything with light and live.

Gea, Kala, Cors and Tati are wall lamps with different forms and textures, pleasing both to the eye and the touch where originality is not incompatible with simplicity.

Arturo Álvarez creates a wall lamp collection with its star material, the silicone mesh, created in-house. These beautiful pieces highlight the infinite possibilities of a material with whom you can reach from incredible volumes to other s more subtle, going through a whole universe of different textures.

Gea: Vertical and sinuous lines that give personality to a wall lamp that completes the whole collection, where the floor lamp GEA, an emblematic piece of the brand, is the leader.

Kala: Discontinuous lines, an irregular volume of live and moving aspect that reminds us of the changing drawings of the sand in the great dunes.

Cors: Women always present on the ideology of Arturo Álvarez, shrouded in sophistication and mystery. Curves that display all it splendor and allow to glimpse a luminous and beautiful body.

Tati: A round form, with a texture woven around repeating circles that form a skin a shell. We look back to the symmetry of the recreated nature.

When we talk about a decorative lamp the images that we have in mind are the classic chandeliers, well-known through the centuries.Recognized through the centuries, the first ones appeared at the churches and monasteries, facing different evolutions during the IX, XVIII centuries until the most recent versions.

The designer Matali Crasset rediscovers and reinvents this antique piece giving it freshness, making it actual but without losing its ancestral concept.

The evolution of how to light this universal lamp goes thorough candles, bulbs, crystals and in the case of this design reflecting metallic panels.

But let’s go step by step. A metallic sheet redistributed in the space as a mobile element is inspired on a rhizomatic structure. The base element forms a pendant in cascade starting of a central point, then it branches out to diffract light in a subtle way.

The source of light is protected by a heart and diverted by reflecting white panels generating a light glow. The endings amplify the ramifications.

As a whole it is completed with the possibility to choose silver or yellow endings, which give more originality, finishing the contemporary flair that has this updated chandelier.

Other virtues are that it can be dismantled and it is very easy to assemble.

The spaces illuminated with Rhizome gain in personality and elegance.

Barcelona Design Week opens its doors, one of the most important events of the contemporary design in Spain. Gunni & Trentino and arturo alvarez come together to carry out a lighting installation in Barcelona.

1.300 square meters dedicated to a showroom with the most leading decorative design brands, at the centre of Barcelona, is without any doubt, a unique setting to appreciate a large dimensions pendant created with the combination of various CORAL collection lamps.

arturo alvarez highlights the endless possible combinations and customizations to be made with its lamps.

The CORAL collection is made with silicone, the brand´s star material, developed by Arturo Alvarez on 2007, soft touch, pleated texture, translucent and with a nice lighting. Organic designs combined with this material give an original and personal result.
